Steaming Under his Collar
 Mars, god of war, planet of energy, assertion, sex, passion, will and drive is stationing retrograde.
This Thursday, November 15th, is the exact date it turns, but we've been really feeling it for a couple of weeks now since
about the beginning of this month. Those who are really sensitive may have been feeling it even longer, since Mars entered
his shadow phase in mid September.
Mars retrograde is very different than the ususal Mercury retro. stuff we are
all used to. You see, Mars goes retrograde only once every two years and two months, so we in general are not as used
to the energies of an inward Mars. Mars rules the sign Aries and, like that sign, He is known for being quite direct and to
the point. However when Mars retrogrades, as with any retrograde planet, his energy goes inward. This is where
Mars acts more like his night sign, Scorpio, he can be deeper and more determined here but also there is potential for implosion,
which may come out as anxiety, frustration or rage. Because Mars is associated with anger, an inward Mars can result in anger
at one's self or depression when these energies are not channeled properly.
When Mars goes retrograde its kind
of like putting the breaks on, things don't quite work the way we are used to. The sign that Mars is retrogressing in is Cancer
and this is the sign of the emotions, home life, family even children. So this is where a lot of inward drive is going
to go over the next two months or so. People will be reassessing, reevaluating things like their home, family situations
or emotional state. Cancer is also associated with the past so we may see old stuff being dug up or people we've lost touch
with turn up at this time.
Those who have a Cancer Sun, Moon or Rising Sign are going to be affected most intensely.
But anyone with planets at or close to 12-13 degrees of the Cardinal signs will feel it strongly. No one is exempt; we will
all be feeling it to some degree. The house in your chart where Mars is currently transiting talks a lot about how this
retrograde period is affecting you.
Mars stations direct on January 30th, and the energies will be mostly back
to normal by mid February. However those who are feeling this period more strongly may not be fully back to normal in the
area of their life affected by this transit until next April.
